DESCRIPTION:
This ring is simply beautiful! The photos have not been retouched, and what you see on the photo is what you will be purchasing. This fine aquamarine, which gets its name from the Latin words meaning water and sea, exhibits high clarity and a nice faceting. It features a soft blue aqua color and brilliance which sends sparkles from all angles. The marquise cut is also very good, with good symmetry, giving this stone real depth. The gem is natural and very clear with no visible inclusions. A couple of very tiny scratches, difficult to see with the naked eye, are visible with a 10X loupe.

The aquamarine measures 18mm by 9mm and is guaranteed to be as described. It is approximately 5cts.

It is beautifully set with 4 large prongs and 6 smaller ones. It forms a nice elevated basket which projects the face a good 7mm above the shank. This lovely ring is crafted in 18K solid gold, and is stamped. It has been acid tested to confirm its 18-carat solid gold content.

This stone is the birthstone for the month of March. But you don't have to have been born in March to appreciate its magnificence. The ring has a pristine transparency, but exhibits a couple of very light scratches commensurate with light use. The are visible only with a 10x loupe.

*Information on gold jewelry:

- 24K gold is pure gold. (it is not really used in jewellery because it is too soft and not practical for daily wear.)
-18K gold contains 18 parts gold and 6 parts of one or more additional metals, making it 75% gold. This level of fineness is used extensively in French and Italian jewelry and in most quality pieces)
-14K gold contains 14 parts gold and 10 parts of one or more additional metals, making it 58.3% gold. (It is used extensively in the US)
-12K gold contains 12 parts gold and 12 parts of one or more additional metals, making it 50% gold.
-10K gold contains 10 parts gold and 14 parts of one or more additional metals, making it 41.7% gold. 10K gold is the minimum standard that can be called "gold" in the United States.
Antique jewelry and rare items often contain the lower level of fineness, but their value is based on a myriad of other factors.
