DESCRIPTION:
"In Ancient Greece, the Gorgoneion (Greek: Γοργόνειον) was a special ... amulet showing the Gorgon head, used most famously by the Olympian deities Athena and Zeus" (Wikipedia): They are said to have worn the gorgoneion as a protective pendant."

The designer of this bracelet crafted it in 18K solid gold and choose the Gorgon, a monster of the underworld, to decorate this beautiful flexible cuff. Obviously enamored by the Greek story of the Odyssey, it may be because one of Gorgons, Athena, became immortal -- at least, as far as classical Greek mythology is concerned.

But you don't have to be a Greek mythology aficionado to know that this bracelet is so well made that it will last forever! The Gorgon head, as that of Medusa, is affixed securely on onyx plaques. They are three of them separated by four segments featuring raised classical Greek motifs. The bracelet is in excellent condition. It is heavy and definitely worth its weight in gold. The closing clasp functions perfectly, making this outstanding bracelet easy to put on. And just raise the little tap to pull it off. Quite effective and secure.

This is the kind of bracelet that will send your next social gathering abuzz with excitement.

Information on gold jewelry:

- 24K gold is pure gold. (it is not really used in jewellery because it is too soft and not practical for daily wear.)
-18K gold contains 18 parts gold and 6 parts of one or more additional metals, making it 75% gold. This level of fineness is used extensively in French and Italian jewelry and in most quality pieces)
-14K gold contains 14 parts gold and 10 parts of one or more additional metals, making it 58.3% gold. (It is used extensively in the US)
-12K gold contains 12 parts gold and 12 parts of one or more additional metals, making it 50% gold.
-10K gold contains 10 parts gold and 14 parts of one or more additional metals, making it 41.7% gold. 10K gold is the minimum standard that can be called "gold" in the United States.
Antique jewelry and rare items often contain the lower level of fineness, but their value is based on a myriad of other factors.
