This delicate and elegant necklace is a lovely example of the art Déco jewelry period. It is crafted in 18K solid gold and 950 platinum, designed for higher end Déco pieces The art Déco period created many pendants, brooches and rings which have become family heirlooms and are passed on to daughters and granddaughters! To-day, authentic pieces such as the one presented here are more and more difficult to obtain due to an ever-diminishing inventory.
This pendant features a deep royal blue sapphire. It is pear shaped and measures approximately 5mm x 3.5mm. It is a natural gemstone without any inclusion and is prong set. It is suspended inside an openwork millegrain frame embellished with 12 old rose cut diamonds including the one on the bail. The pendant hangs on a box style chain with a spring ring clasp. The millegrain pendant is shaped as an arch and frames the lovely deep blue sapphire. It measures approximately 30mm x 19mm (at the widest part)
The necklace displays the two French assay stamps to guarantee it 18-carat solid gold and its 950 platinum content. It is in excellent estate condition. Any white or cloudy spots on the image is glare and/or photographic obstructions.
