This magnificent and unique antique double sided locket is crafted in 18K solid gold and displays engravings of exquisite volutes and flowers. On one side, it features a huge monogram adorned with an elegant flowery design, and enhanced with 12 rose-cut diamonds of varying sizes. The other side of this geometrical shaped pendant features a musical instrument such as a lyre, and leads us to believe that this ancient photo locket may have, at some time, belonged to a musician.
This double sided locket is a substantial antique (Circa 1830), with a central compartment revealing a heavy hinged thick crystal.
This ancient locket is in good antique condition. All of the rose-cut gems are present, and the locket functions perfectly. We invite you to view all close-up photos carefully. You will see numerous small dents which may easily be seen with a loupe but which can scarcely be seen when wearing the pendant. There are also a couple of very light soldering marks, not that visible in most lights but quite visible in the photos. The inner left side of the locket has some sign representing an arrow, but it is rather difficult to make out what it really means. To sum up, this antique period piece is in very good wearable condition and will look smashing with any type of clothing.
The 18K solid gold twisted chain is for display only, but is available for an extra fee.

- 24K gold is pure gold. (it is not really used in jewellery because it is too soft and not practical for daily wear.)

-14K gold contains 14 parts gold and 10 parts of one or more additional metals, making it 58.3% gold. (It is used extensively in the US)
-12K gold contains 12 parts gold and 12 parts of one or more additional metals, making it 50% gold.
-10K gold contains 10 parts gold and 14 parts of one or more additional metals, making it 41.7% gold. 10K gold is the minimum standard that can be called "gold" in the United States.
Antique jewelry and rare items often contain the lower level of fineness, but their value is based on a myriad of other factors.
